in CCNA & CCENT
Well, Today, i took the network administrator of a well known company in Winston Salem, NC.
we had lunch, and we went back to the company, and he took me on a tour.
How it was fascinating, seeing all these servers, switches, routers, VPN, firewalls, and ect.
It was very neat. he showed me around, and exlpained what he used such and such.
Hopefully during the summer, he take me in a internship. He said he has to talk to his boss first.
but man was i impressed.
What i did notice is that, the network, didnt consist much of cisco stuff.
He had a cisco VPN 3000 concentrator, Cisco 515e firewall x2, cisco IDS?????, 2 cisco 1800, and a 2800.
the network had alot of citrix servers, and HP switches, and Hp servers.
So after i acheive my CCNA, and CCNP should i get some citrix certifications, and what about Hp certs.
Although i have no idea about any of these!!!
But i would like to try it.

For example if you achieved your CCNP, but are more of a Windows admin and do not have much production network experience I wouldn't list the cert on the resume. I would also try to focus more on the Windows certs if thats what I worked for majority of the day.
My advice is if you do get the internship. Try and keep a running journal or what you learned and how you applied it. This will be great to look back on to see how far you've come when its over, plus it is great reinforcement for learning.

You seriously wouldnt list the ccnp on your cv if you were a windows admin???
I disagree with that statement. If you get your ccnp - LIST IT!!!! Qualifications as such look great on a cv and it can be the difference between landing a job or not. i know what you mean when you say without the experiance the cert isnt "justified" as such but look at one of the newest CCIE's on TE - Mr D..I began CCNA studies in January 2006. I passed the CCNA in June, had the CCNP by November, and passed the written in December. I had absolutely 0 real-world networking experience until January 2007 when I started with a local hospital on their L2 (Network Operations) team. Throughout 2007 I prepared for the lab. January 2008 I was promoted to their L3 (Network Engineering) team. So, now I have 15 months experience.
