It is scheduled for 1:45 on Monday April the 13th.

I'm already into chapter 4 with the MSPress book self-paced training kit.

I'll also be reading

http://www.techexams.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=22294

I'm doing no labs which makes me sad but I'm running through all the screenshots.

I originally planned to do

270
290
291
293
284
294
297
285

But I think I will switch it to

270

291
620
293

Pfft. Just download the VHD and play around in Virtual PC or convert it in VMWare.

Isn't that thread amazing? That guy put a ton of work into it. I'm definitely going to use that for my own 620 as well.

Good luck. I have two weeks between the end of the semester and a vacation in May, so I'm going to try to squeeze mine in there. If you fail, I'll get demoralized and fail mine as well. So don't fail; there's a lot riding on this icon_lol.gif

You pulled my arm with the link. I'll pop it on my VMware server.

Oh I definitely won't fail... So what is remote desktop again?

Someone should have made that thread a sticky, it was worth it IMO.

    Oh no dynamik!

Okay you actually have to study to pass, but not a whole lot! lol

I failed with a 667/1000. My "bars" were actually really good with only configuring/troubleshooting post-installation system settings/configuring applications included with Vista being at 55%, the rest were full or 75%+. But its probably because I deserve this fail. ;)

I forgot that Saturday was Thunder over Louisville for the Derby and didn't study all day saturday and barely any Sunday. I installed Vista and played with it last night only.

A lot of the topics I studied were not on the test however. A lot of very basic worded questions which really made it hard to choose an answer as of course, there were 2 right answers with almost no detail on the problem at hand. Maybe I like wordy MS questions because I can deduce an answer better. People at work don't walk up to me and say "I need to sync offline files but I'm getting an error." then I have to give them the exact problem. lol My next question would probably be "WHAT IS THE ERROR?". :)

Not quite the cakewalk exam that it is being painted as? Close but no cigar there. Too bad about the fail but turn around and eat it for breakfast now!

All the questions are very simple and takes just a minute to read so thats great. They don't really lead you on much in the question but they do in the multiple choices. I would say it still is quite as easy as everyone paints it to be. You DO have the read a book for the most part and do a fair amount of labs. Not just read 5 chapters of a book and do 2-3 hour of labs as I did. ;)

He only studied a few days and took Saturday off, and he only missed it by a question or two. I guess I'll have to dedicate a whole week to it when that time comes around icon_lol.gif

I'm still sorry to hear about the fail though. I'm sure the next time will be a cakewalk.

I'm almost tempted into trying out this exam now just to see the difficulty level for myself. Too bad there isn't a free-for-the-fun-of-it option.

haha exactly! I honestly just took the test to see how I would do with hardly any study. I was laughing to myself as I read the questions. It was fun for once!

I think I might be headed into buying a house real soon here so I won't be able to second shot this exam immediately.

But it would still involve paying for an exam that doesn't directly help me now on my MCSA/MCSE track (though it would help with 2008 much later on), when the money could go for the 291! So I'll just wait on that one for a while as much fun as it sounds, alas.

Actually, you can use it as your elective for either the MCSA or the MCSE.

So, are you going to take it, or are you just going to keep making excuses? ;)

LOL I passed with a 700! WTFFFF I was so confident in my answer this time. haha the Vista test is the hardest test I've taken so far!

Still, in all honestly I never read the MSpress book front to back. I glanced through a lot of what it had in the summaries and other things I didn't know. I did quite a few more labs this time but the test doesn't really test you on that. There is a lot of scenario questions where I couldn't lab out because I don't have 5 people using calendaring. Plus I guess I'm just not as in depth with the topics and labs because I'm just not as interested. I still can't help but to feel dumb and like I cheated the test. Just like anyone else who gets a 700 on their MS tests.

I was tested on IPv6!! I got that one right too.

Geez Mishra. Way to set a bad example for everyone. This thread should be made a sticky and renamed to: "How not to prepare for and take exams" icon_lol.gif

Congrats on the pass though. Are you back on the 293 wagon now?

    hehe

I am happy with the lab work I did with Vista. Even if I did crappy on the test I am pretty comfortable with Vista and could probably answer a lot of questions and work on it.

Yes back to the 70-293. I'm more motivated to destroy that test now though. :)

I want to get the MCITP at some point but it just wouldn't benefit me as of right now. It would be smarter to use my time to get MCSE, CCENT/CCNA, LPIC certified first as thats what I advertise on my resume. After that it will probably be a good time to get my MCITP because 2008 will be used more.

I only asked because it seems like 622 has a lot in common with 620 and is about the same level of difficulty. It seems like something you could power through in another couple of weeks ;)

I honestly just want to keep my certifications looking like a server guy. HR and just people in geneal really can judge any number of ways. So I could see an HR person looking at the certs and thinking

"Vista, what the hell is that?... Next cert"

"Vista, he were looking for someone who has those skills"

but I could never see them saying "Vista, we don't want someone who has that cert!"

However if I got MCITP I could see them saying like

"MCITP enterprise support technician... That sounds like a desktop guy. Next resume."
