Question, when configuring routers does the lmi-type have to match?

Webmaster Admin Posts: 10,292 AdminThe router has to be configured with an LMI type supported by the frame-relay switch it is connected to. When you use only Cisco equipment, you should use the default type: cisco
Since IOS version 11.2, the LMI type is auto-sensed enabling allowing the interface to determine the LMI type supported by the switch. -
mbeaven Member Posts: 50 ■■□□□□□□□□Thanks. The reason I asked is that I ran across a question on a practice exam that had 3 routers around a frame-relay cloud and listed their configurations and asked why they couldn't communicate and the answer was that one router had a different lmi-type. It seemed kind of strange.
