What should the parameters I should compare for differnet IDS. and what would be the commerical / free IDS

I'd make sure it was an IPS as well. An IDS system without IPS is pretty much useless in my opinion. What good is a system that stands by and looks as malicious traffic passes but does nothing about it. That's where an IPS would come in; it would actually do something about it.

I am looking to make a checklist that different IDS would offer. like real time traffic analyis...packet loggin..protocol analysis...and so on and so forth.

Looking for differnet parameters to create a checklist !

Compare everything else to Snort. That's the most popular IDS that I see everywhere.
