2610XM help

Hi Folks.

I recently bought a 2610XM on ebay but received what seems to be a 2611 instead

Since the 2610XM is supposed to be better, I contacted the seller and he is going to replace it (but the 2611 did have 2 regular ethernet ports built in). (if a 2611 is better please let me know).

I bought the 2610XM so i can do router (IP) on a stick and also to use the Cisco SDM utility in preparation for ICND1.

Could someone post and let me know if there is a sticker or something on the outside that specifically states that it a 2610XM?

Also, does a show version specifically list that it is 2610XM or what is a good way to verify that it is an XM version?

Lastly, what does it typically come with? I was told that it comes with a aux, console and 1 fast Ethernet.

It will have 2610XM on the label next to the power switch and also it will tell you when you when you boot up/run show version. It will mention C2600 in several places though even if you've got a XM model but thats normal.

Cisco 2610XM (MPC860P) processor (revision 1.0) with 262144K/8192K bytes of memory.

The XM models are basically an upgraded version of the non XM models. The processor is faster, the ethernet ports are 100 mbit instead of 10mbit, you can put more RAM & Flash in and you can run the current latest/greatest version of IOS. People have managed to get a 2600XM IOS to run on a plain 2600 however but it can/will crash due to the lack of memory.

2610 = 1 NM slot, 2 WIC slots, 1 Ethernet port, 1 internal AIM slot, 1 console port and 1 aux port.
2610XM = Same as 2610 but with 1 Fast Ethernet instead.
2611 = Same as 2610 but with 2 Ethernet ports.
2611XM = Same as 2610 but with 2 Fast Ethernet ports instead.
2612 = 1 NM slot, 2 WIC slots, 1 Token Ring port, 1 Ethernet port, 1 internal AIM slot, 1 console port and 1 aux port.
2613 = 1 NM slot, 2 WIC slots, 2 Token Ring ports, 1 internal AIM slot, 1 console port and 1 aux port.
2620 = Faster version of the 2610
2620XM = Faster version of the 2610XM
2621 = Faster version of the 2611
2621XM = Faster version of the 2611XM
2650 = Even faster version of the 2610
2650XM = Even faster version of the 2610XM
2651 = Even faster version of the 2611
2651XM = Even faster version of the 2611XM
2691 = 1 NM slot, 3 WIC slots, 2 Fast Ethernet ports, 2 internal AIM slots, 1 console port and 1 aux port.

They're all 1U apart from the 2691 which is 2U.
