P4 or A64 ?? Which would you choose?

Hi guys,

I would like to know what your thoughts on choosing an Intel P4- 3GHz processor or an AMD A64 3000+ processor.... which would you pick and why?

I am debating to switch to the AMD processor so that I can run Windows XP 64bit edition.

Although I currently use a P4, I've always been a little partial to AMD. I believe they make just as good, if not better product than Intel. Right now however, I would go with a P4 Vs. only because of price, for the chip, the mobo, Ram, everything has to be 64bit compatible, even software(Win64), which has been tested how throughly? Eventually, when Intel goes 64, AMD will drop in price.

I'll wait until prices drop and put money into my certs now

I would be waiting until there are enough apps to justify 64 bit processing. Reading various literature it appears that many apps just can not handle it and some slow to a crawl.
