What to expect

Hey guys, I'm going for my third interview for a sys admin postion. The first interview was general questions, nothing really technical, second interview had to take a series of test which included personality, reasoning and logic.
That said what can i expect from the third interview?

    More questions.

I haven't seen very many places do a third interview, they usually hired by the second. So if they're doing a third they're going to look for something to separate someone from the pack. I'm guessing based off of what they've done with you so far that they would be grilling on technical skills.

Or there is someone considered a necessary interviewer that wasn't available for the first two rounds. I've gone through multiple telephone and in-person interviews for a single position for this reason.

Man, what a pain that must be. I thoroughly dislike interviews, even though I understand and acknowledge the necessity of them. I'd rather they just rescheduled for when said person is available than make me go through more interviews than necessary. Though I guess it does give them a chance to verify your consistency.

I think it's typically a more important person that doesn't bother with the early rounds, not someone who couldn't previously make it.

Smile a lot, eat some breath mints before you go, don't bash your old job, focus on the things this new job could do for you (like new opportunities, chance to move up, etc...), ask lots of questions about the company (this shows your interested). Look people in the eye when answering/asking questions.

Finally review all your tech stuff before the final interview. If they have not grilled you on the tech side of the house they are surely going to do it. You don't have to have perfect answers for every question, but you need to be able to carry on intelligent conversations.

You will be fine, post back with how the interview goes!!!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

My job required a phone interview, interview with HR director, a round of online behavioral analysis tests, and an interview with the other IT employees, HR director, my boss, and his boss.

Luckily im generally good at interviewing and didnt let it get me overwhelmed. I spent more time in my final interview asking them questions about the company, work atmosphere, benefits, etc than they asked me about technology (maybe 20 minutes in a 2 hours interview), but every company is different.

    *edited - im a poor tpyer :)

Does this happen to anyone, where you go for the interview and finally come to the part where they ask you if you have any questions for them, so you ask the first question, they answer it and then immediately move to escorting you out the door not letting you ask any other questions whether you had them or not. It's happened at just about every job I've interviewed for, including the jobs that I did get an offer on so I don't think it is related to them not being interested in you.

My single favorite question at the very end of the interview is something like "what is your biggest concern about hiring me?"

Gives you an opportunity to take a shot at their biggest concern. Ive been told several times that was a really good question.

All you have to say is: I have 2 questions. Then you cant leave before you get to ask the second one.

Most of the time they sit through 3-4 questions but after so long they pretty much start pushing me out the door.

"so what distros of linux do you all have?"

Keeping my promises: Interview went ok, they actually had the personality test there and were asking me more personality questions, what my career goals are etc. Nothing technical really, one or two senarios but that was it. Will know in a week if i am their guy.
