do you guys recommend sybex or syngress, I just bought sybex for security+ today. icon_sad.gif

    I used the Syngress myself. From what I've heard, the Sybex book does not adequately prepare you for the exam. That's not to say it's a bad book, just be sure to supplement it with another resource or two.

    I used Sybex - but don't have experience of Syngress.

    I can, however, concur with dynamik's comment about the reputation of the Sybex book. I passed, but I didn't exactly feel prepared as I was wading through the exam.

    As I have mentioned in other posts, it is somewhat disconcerting when you have studied using material with the CompTIA logo on - and which is apparently approved by the CAQC scheme, and then you come across "off piste" questions in the exam.

    I used the Sybex book, but I supplemented it with the TechNotes here. The book alone didn't go into enough detail.

    Having read a substantial portion of both, I would get the Syngress book... They're both good, but the Syngress is better IMHO...
