Best drive wipe software

I seem to think there was a thread about this, but I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'm thinking of the Data Destruction in one of the blogs http://www.techexams.net/blogs/jdmurray/free-windows-tools-to-save-you-some-money

What do you guys prefer for drive wipe/destruction. I'd prefer open source solutions, but all recommendations welcome.

Well we're going to test out Acronis Drive Cleanser.

It's certified by the Department of Defense and only $50 license fee.

If you are looking to wipe at the partition or drive level, DBAN is the best choice. Several commercial disk security products license DBAN's technology, including EBAN.

Is DBAN DoD DoD 5220.22-M certified though?

http://www.killdisk.com/ - there is a free version as well but the pro version is $50 and DoD certified. We use killdisk at most of our sites.

DBAN supports disk wiping to the DoD 5220.22-M standard, and the DoD certianly uses DBAN, so it must have passed DoD 5220.22-M compliance testing at some time.
