What sofware do I use for LAB in 70-270 and 70-290

You must admit that it is very difficult to have many computers, some with Win2003 and others with XP to test what we have studied. I know that it exists a software like virtualPC or VirtualMachine that can be used to pratice lab. I heard about those softs but I never used them. So my question is: what software is the best to use for our pratice lab? And if you can provide the link? Is this site has a software like that? Please inform me.
Secundo, you can comment in this point. If you have setup lab for each topic and you know the topic well, what dont you use **** for optimizing your change to get your certs?
