I went through all the steps and install everything. but when I right click on the system tray to get unity up and running. It makes some weird sound and stops running. Any help will be appreciated.

Which version of Unity are you installing? Which message store are you using?

Which steps did you follow? Did you run the Cisco Unity Installation and Configuration Assistant and do all the steps in there?

    So what was it?

Or was it just at the "wait forever + an hour" part of the installation?

I'm wondering too. I couldn't make heads or tails out of this thread. Almost like speaking a different language. Maybe the solution will make sense out of the rest of the thread.

I'm assuming the event viewer pointed to the solution.

Can someone give me some basic steps to get unity to receive voicemail for my callmanager?

I have created voice mail ports, voiceprofile and created MWI numbers
I have also created the ports on cisco unity. Now what?

Check the Cisco Unity Messaging Integration chapter of the Cisco CallManager System Guide for your CallManager version.

There is also this Integrating Cisco Unity and CallManager doc which may help you.
