When was the QoS exam last changed?

My CBT nuggets for the 642-642 go back to a few years ago and as far as I can tell the Cisco cert guide was published in 2004. Wen was the last time the exam was actually changed? I would like to not fall into the trap of studying with antiquated material if there is new stuff out.

It's been atleast 3 years since the 642-642 exam was introduced but there have been 2 revisions to the courseware since then so the exam has evolved to include the newer topics. I think the Cisco Press QoS book (second edition) is the newest version out there. Also as you already know don't depend on the CBT to cover all the topics in great detail.

Yeah, I'm more concerned with the book. As long as the 2nd ed is the latest I'm fine. I'm also using the following books:

Optimizing Applications on Cisco Networks (cisco press)
IP Quality of Service (cisco press)
End to End QoS Network Design (cisco press)
Administering Cisco QoS in IP Networks
And the whitepapers on the various Catalyst switches

I should be fine, just curious about the exam itself. I figure if the official cert guide is dated to 2004 I should be fine. Typically cisco releases a new revision for updated exams within a year of any update. either way, peace of mind is nice :)

    Paul Boz,

The current QoS exam number is 642-642. It became the current exam as of 24Aug2004 when the 642-641 QoS exam was retired. To give another datapoint to work with, the 642-641 QoS exam was the replacement for the 640-905 MCAST+QOS exam that retired on 31Oct2003.

    I hope this helps.

With the recent CCVP changes, the QoS recommended training course for the exam is now version 2.2 -- but the Qos exam still has the same exam number. The Odom QoS book is probably still good -- just check the exam blueprint to see what topics they now consider important.
