Double-Take Software

Just got a quote for 4 licenses of double take software 13k. I think this is more than my company is gonna want to spend on this, I have used double take before and it's a great product, we are planning on replicating Sql databases and files over to hot backup servers. Does anyone know of a similar software package I can start looking at?

You can buy a SAN and use the SAN's data replication but you are still talking about a lot of money.

what version of SQL?

A company I worked for used 2005 and GEO clustering. We had setup a witness server and some replication targets. worked like a champ and everything failed over pretty nice and clean.

Are these local or remote servers you want to replicate to? I've seen DT used in the past for both.

I'm using platespin power convert. Replicating physical servers to virtual servers on a VMW ESX. About 1/4 the cost of DoubleTake per workload.
