2620 FE port issue
chess2
I have a 2620 that I'm working with at home. The flash is giving errors, so I ordered another one. In the meantime I used xmodem to load the ios directly to ram which worked. When i did a show running-config the fastethernet port did not show. I can't ping it in rommon mode once a set the IP and other 4 settings.
Does this mean that there is a hardware issue with the port?
Is there another way to verify if the port is defective or not?
Thanks.

what about a show int and show ver? Do they list the interface?

I tried that and it did not show up. I had 11.3 installed since it was a small file. I changed the baud rate to high and installed 12.x and the port shows now.

Ah, makes sense.

As you've found out, 12.x is the lowest version of IOS that works with a 2620. 11.x doesn't support it at all.
Did you get your 11.x from another model router?
