hi guys !
I am trying to nail down PPP and about most of its parts i feel confident but NCP seems not going to digest easily.
According to an explanation : NCP is a method of establishing and configuring different Nework layer protocols.NCP is designed to allow the simulations use of multiple Network layer protocols. What does that means it means that using NCP PPP can use encapsulate different network layer protocols at the same time? If yes how can be IP and IPX adjusted in a frame. I do not understand how IPCP and IPXCP or other protocols simultaneouly work if we need them to ?. Does it mean that one machine will running IP and other machine on the other side of the WAN link running IPX as network protocols and NCP would bring them both into PPP frame?
What is meaning of multiple and simultaneouly to be more precisely
Secondly could you please help me understand what is a magic number ?
Many thanks for your help

remyforbes777 Member Posts: 499It means that if a packet came through the router that needed to be moved to the IPX stack or IP stack, PPP could encapsulate it to do so. You can have a mixture of network protocols on the network. The router only routes the traffic.Remington Forbes
