I hate how all the practice exams are on software raid used in windows... Like anyone relies or even uses dynamic disks/raid now adays.. Maybe once in a blue moon, but its not like you are relying on your software raid in an enterprise environment.
I am having a hard time to understand all the basic/dynamic when a raid array breaks or a drive fails. I have used hardware raid for atleast 4 years now.

Just think of basic disks as "traditional" disks and dynamic disks as being disks that are converted to be able to do things like be in raid arrays, spanning, etc. If a drive fails, just replace it and rebuild the array.
