I must ask, does anyone ever feel overwhelmed in our line of work?
If so how do you deal with the stress?

You wondering more about how to deal with the stress when you are at work specifically, or just deal with it throughout life?

I like to go into my coworkers machines and delete their ntldr file. I then sit back and watch them squirm. It makes me happy.

Cursing. I find lots and lots of loud cursing at work relieves my stress. It tends to elevate my co-workers' stress levels though...wonder why? icon_confused.gif:

Just make sure you bring a squeegee so you can get back to work afterwards.

As for me? I like to go walking whenever I can, just take a five or ten minute break from work and walk a bit. If I can't do that, I'll take a few minutes and mess around online, like post on this forum or chat with friends on Google Talk. Life, in general. . . I tend to take time off whenever I can to just relax. I'll go out to the coast on weekends, I go to the gym on weeknights, I've been training kung fu since 1999 and I find that it helps me drain away stress. I also like to take an hour or so a day and just sit and relax with my other hobby, which is more than enough to forget about stress at work, stress at home, or the traffic-jam I'm in.

Especially lately with the economy in the crapper, the company I work for is just whoring us out for any and all billable hours, even for projects individual engineers flat out should not be doing from lack of knowledge and training. I've felt overwhelmed by trying to at least vaguely know what I'm doing for every product I've had 0 experience with that I'm deploying.

But c'est la vie with consulting...
    Good luck to all!
