Sony VGN-FS640 Wont turn on
Ok, the laptop wont turn on, plug-in charger light is green and normal, no lights turn on, on the laptop like it should, tried battery by itself, with cord, cord standalone. But nothing works, now this has happened before, but I took it to my networking teacher and he said something about the charger or battery i forget, any way, im pretty sure its nothing internal. I sort of remember him saying he used a different battery or charger?? I know this is a simple solution but i dont know. Should I buy a standalone battery charger or what. Thanks.
P.S. Moms laptop, nothings compatible with mine -_-

Also make sure you're using the correct voltage a/c adapter for the unit. Also make sure you're not having any problem with the power button itself.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/

undomiel Member Posts: 2,818Try a different wall socket. Can you change the cord from the brick to the laptop? Try a different adapter if possible. Did you check the pin in the power port? If all of that checks out and you're absolutely sure you're having no connection problems there then the motherboard probably needs to be replaced.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/

in my opinion you need to check the ribbon cable from the power button to the motherboard, very common issue with these, the ribbon cable wears because it is bent in such a way, cheap fix, good old ebay will sell you a ribbon cable, let us know how you get on. -

Try another laptop that is compatible with the power supply and see if it does power on
I would evaluate the power supply before you go down the road of taking the whole laptop apart
Let us know how you get on or how you fixed it
