undomiel Member Posts: 2,818It seems more like an anti-Microsoft/Windows than to really have a basis. Number 7 I'm personally familiar with as the machines here at work use XP Embedded. Never had a problem with Windows on them. Segregate them from the internet and the rest of the network and only give access to the file server where necessary and they have absolutely zero problems. Well ok that's false. They have problems. But not from Windows. From the crappy CNC software made for the machines.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/

RTmarc Member Posts: 1,082 ■■■□□□□□□□Ummm, correct me if I'm wrong, but number 4 is BS. Everything I ever read regarding the TJX incident is that people sat in the parking lot and used a directional antennae to access the TJX network via a misconfigured wireless network tied to their internal systems. While they may have exploited Windows vulnerabilities to gain the information, isn't the misconfigured wireless network tied to their internal systems the real problem on that one? Can you really expect someone to properly patch Windows system that does that??

if that SINGLE air traffic controller server went down, and its an extremely critical piece of hardware, and the controller station was down for hours; Why dont they have a hot spare on hand?!?!? Where is the redundancy? It sounds like a bad implementation/installation more than anything.**** ARE FOR CHUMPS! Don't be a chump! Validate your material with certguard.com search engine

jworley Member Posts: 39 ■■□□□□□□□□I agree. it definitely seems very anti-Microsoft. To be honest, I really don't think the list was intended to be taken COMPLETELY seriously. It's all in good fun (to me)."I asked, 'Why do you bring a gun to a UFO sighting?' Guy said, 'Way-ul, we didn wanna be ab-duc-ted.' Oh im sure the article was supposed to be in some good fun. However, the commenting patrons at the bottom of the article seem to think different. They see a BSOD and immediately think an OS is crap....**** ARE FOR CHUMPS! Don't be a chump! Validate your material with certguard.com search engine
