raid 0 question
RAID0 with disc striping how much faster is it or is it faster if u use this method of of raid when installing programs. or is it just faster after the program is installed to get to it more quickly? just want more info on it pls. thanks

RAID-0 if fast for both reads and writes. So, if you are installing a program (writing to the storage volume) it would "write" the data on the RAID-0 Array fast but the overall installation speed still depends on the computer's power (CPU/RAM/etc.) and free resources.
Read speed on RAID-0 is also fast as well. Keep in mind though that with a RAID-0 Array, if 1 drive fails the whole array is trashed.

Any disk failure destroys the array, which becomes more likely with more disks in the array. A single disk failure destroys the entire array because when data is written to a RAID 0 drive, the data is broken into fragments. The number of fragments is dictated by the number of disks in the drive. The fragments are written to their respective disks simultaneously on the same sector. This allows smaller sections of the entire chunk of data to be read off the drive in parallel, giving this type of arrangement huge bandwidth. RAID 0 does not implement error checking so any error is unrecoverable.
