HTTPS option now in Gmail
Sorry if this has already been mentioned in another thread, but I just noticed that Gmail now has an option to always establish a persistent HTTPS connection regardless of the URL. Previously, it was necessary to explicitly include the https:// protocol in the URL (e.g., https://mail.google.com/) to maintain a persistent secure connection to Gmail. Now it's an option at the bottom of the General tab on the Settings page.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminI've not notice a difference either. I'm sure there is a performance penalty for email with very large attachments or lots of image links, but that''s true with all encrypted communications channels. Ya gotta give something to get something.

I don't know, but I haven't used their chat since I found one of my conversations on another website! Found it by accident, I was doing a google search on my buddies gmail account name and ran across a cached page in a language I didn't know that had my buddies email name in it.... The page didn't exist anymore, but the cached page did, so I poked around a bit (didn't understand a word of anything until I got to our conversation that was posted) and it was word for word....
Kind of scary... I don't know if my session was compromised or my buddy's was.... I checked all my machines for any signs of malware. I wouldn't be surprised if my buddy was the problem... He always was going to The bad W sites looking for "Patches".
I guess it's a good thing there wasn't anything of consequence being said in any of my chats with that guy... -

kellyjohn Member Posts: 14 ■□□□□□□□□□Good share there, I always prefer to connect and log-in to websites via https. They’re a lot more secure and is highly recommended for those leeching off free Wi-Fi connections, using Internet cafe terminals, and to those who are just plain paranoid.
