A very good eight-minute video with Dan Kaminsky in an interview at Black Hat explaining the DNS vulnerability he discovered is available at darkreading.com. Kaminsky is a very clear and entertaining speaker.

That was interesting. It's amazing they could keep as much of it as quiet as they did, especially once they got others involved.

I remember at Defcon hearing Kaminsky say that he realized the DNS vulnerability on February 20th and it was kept quiet until July 8th. It wasn't until a significant number of people were brought into the mix that wind of it leaked out.
