Relief!

Passed with a 760 (I'm just reliving snadam's experience)
This test is TOUGH and so hard to study for. Why isn't this called the beast? When you start out reading the book they start to go into every single topic that you could ever find in a Microsoft software shop. And guess what, the test mirrors this exact same thing. Had 3 sims.
This is the most manic depressive test I've taken. Some of the questions are lightly worded, some are huge, some are weird, some questions are quite easy, some are extremely detailed. I would be really curious to how they score this test.
Topics are EVERYWHERE. How do you study for this test when they are trying to test you on everything? I think I got lucky and I don't feel bad at all for people who fail this test. The ONLY saving grace is a couple of the crazy easy questions you get.
Topics:
Backups
Subnetting
PKI
Clustering
DNS
DHCP
Security
Templates
IPSEC
VPN
RRAS
MBSA
WSUS
AND MORE!!!!!
Again the hardest part of this test is the books start out with the basic knowledge from the 270 you learned and makes it really hard to read. I skipped over entire sections knowing I probably skipped over that ADDED piece of information because I've read this crap already. And you have to focus throughout the entire study material to really try and pick up on things (and lab them) that you didn't know. Then they ask you the most detailed question about RRAS and you just don't have the knowledge needed to really figure out what the heck they are trying to ask you.
Man I'm glad I'm done with this one. I'm excited to study for the 294 as it is AD stuff and not the entire Microsoft Server product features.

Yea, 293 isn't anything to take lightly. Between the two, I think I did better on 291. Anyway, glad you made it through and good luck with 294. Have you decided on your design exam yet?

Expect a lot more of that for the 294! Congratulations on your pass and have fun studying for the 294!
Don't worry about the 298, the most intimidating part about it is just that it is different. Once you have it in front of you it won't be so scary.
congrats, and Godspeed on 294.

I just couldn't bear reading the whole Syngress book. I read that book on my weak parts (PKI,security). I would also pick up the MSPress book and read some of the topics in it. Actually the best resources I found and were easy to read were at technet. I posted some in the resources sticky in this forum but you can find more on things like clustering or security templates. They were the easiest and very well detailed reads.
However if you can stand it then try and read through the Syngress material. I'm just the kind of person that my mind wonders if I'm not reading new stuff.
Don't forget to lab topics! Always a help on sims and questions.

I'm glad you guys think it was tough too. Yeah, the Snygress book is 900 pages and I really am loosing motivation to read the whole thing. That and finishing my basement off has really gotten me of track.
Give me about a week. ^_^
You may learn something!
probably one of you two. Who knows though, I might hit the books really hard. I might have already started today...If I can grasp the info well enough, I might take it in 2 weeks time.
PS: I still have to take 298, then the MCSE is done for me

Definitely won't be a week for me.
Back when I started studying for the microsoft exams I had a coworker studying for the 290 at the same time. A little competition to see who would pass first and who would score higher was very motivating! I got two ribeye steaks out of that deal...
Well I'm stuck with sndam as well because we both don't have our 298's finished. So you will probably finish before me.
Yeah I always used to create competition at my previous job. It made it easier to work and fun to see how much we got done. We would see how many tickets we could do in a few hours. Don't let me catch up to you as I'm going to try and knock these out fast.
You may learn something!
I got 294 + 299 commin' up Friday myself...
