Is the study info for the 640-801 similar enough to 802 to be useful in passing the 802 test?

    If you were in the net acad you can still take the 801. You have to log in and under tools there is a pdf with a promo code that will allow you to call in and sign up to take the old one.

    No it's not. To be blunt about it, if it was enough, they wouldn't have a new test.

    Thats what I thought. It was just false hopes, since I have the training materials for the 801.

    You can still use that to study for the time being. Just check the blueprint, so you don't waste time with things like ISDN that have been removed from the new exam. You will have to get updated resources at some point though.
