I have three 2950 switches with quite an old IOS. I have downloaded the latest IOS from Cisco, but would like to boot the IOS from my TFTP server to make sure that it works ok before writing it to the flash.
I've heard some horror stories about people installing the wrong IOS and not being able to boot the device at all after that. I read somewhere that it is good practice to boot the IOS from TFTP first to ensure that it works.
Can anyone tell me how to do this? I found some instructions on the Cisco website when I was studying for CCENT but now I can find it. Thanks.
