source of information ?
I'm not doing the Server+ test but I am using it as a reference for dealing with some servers that have suddenly fallen into my lap to administer.
there is a lot of useful information in the Server+ with regards to servers in general. I have been given some advice which I am lead to believe is the standard way of doing things or "Best practices"
such as:
- not to name the server according to its function i.e not to call your file server, COMAPNY-FILESERVER
- place your server on a separate subnet then your LAN
these are the kind of things I'm looking for; general guidelines and principles.
can anyone point me to any reference material: books, white papers or even add a few points on what you consider essential things ?

God give me the serenity to accept the things that i cannot change...and the courage to change the things i can....and the wisdom to know the difference.

Also, I'd encourage you to actually name your servers something meaningful.
