GAL problem, need some help!

Hey all, I've got an issue with the GAL not updating on a exchange2k3/outlook2k3 setup. Most clients are running in cached mode, but I don't think that has much to do with it as the GAL on the server is not updating either. My problem is that new users and other changes in AD are not showing up in the GAL. For example a new user has been in AD for about a week and a half now and is still not showing up in the GAL. I have checked the GAL on the server by going to exchange system manager and to the default global access list properties and clicking preview, the new users aren't there either. So I don't think it's merely an issue of replicating the GAL to our outlook clients. It seems that the GAL is just not picking up new AD accounts. I'm hoping someone has experienced this before and has a quick solution. Thanks!

HeroPsycho Inactive Imported Users Posts: 1,940Your problem is likely with the Recipient Update Service. Try issuing an Update Now command to the Domain RUS object.
I'd also recommend running Exchange Best Practices Analyzer and see if it might even identify the problem for you.

JayrodEF Member Posts: 111 ■□□□□□□□□□Thanks for your response. I had tried to update the RUS manually a few times before, I did it again just to see and there's still no change in the GAL. I'm not getting any errors relating to RUS in the event viewer so that KB article isn't helping me too much. I'm running the best practice tool now and we'll see what that comes up with. Any other ideas out there?

JayrodEF Member Posts: 111 ■□□□□□□□□□Actually, I went through the steps in that article for troubleshooting the RUS. One thing that I found is that I tried to rebuild the RUS and it never seemed to start. The KB article said that I should be gettnig Event ID 8329 saying the RUS service is starting, but I never get one of those. I get the 8011 and 8012 often, but never anything else. I also have a ton of Error 9548.
