creating a virtual image

I was wondering is it possible to take an actual hard drive, and make virtualize it so u can use it within Virtual PC or Virtual Server?!?

A co-worker has a PC with Windows XP and Office 2007. But he wants to to know if it's possible to make it into an image or whatever so it can be used with in Virtual Server/PC.

Thanks,

Anil.

The process you're talking about is called P2V - Physical to Virtual. There are utilities out there to do it but I've no idea about the Microsoft virtualisation products. Platespin Powerconvert will do it but that costs money.

Google "free p2v", you'll turn up lots

Also, a program like Backup Exec System Recovery will also work very well if you have it
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...
