Game Difficulty
What level do you all start out playing your games on. Meaning if you went out and bought starcraft now for the first time, what levels would you play on?
1) Easy/Medium/Hard
2) Normal/Hard/Very Hard
3) Very Easy/Easy/Medium/Hard/Very Hard
Me personally I usually play on
1) Easy
2) Normal
3) This can vary. FPSs I usually start Very Easy.. But a RTS I start on Easy or Medium.
I really like it when games put a "normal" setting because I just want to play the game on the difficultly the game designers built the game for optimal play experience.
I've really wanted to start games out on hard to get the most play time out of the game... But usually I end up giving up when I try it because it's just frustrating.

jbrown414 Member Posts: 230If it's a game I've never played before I will start on easy just to learn how to play. If it is overly easy I'll restart and go up to the next difficulty level. If it's a sequel to a game I've played before I'll definitely start on normal.

Gears of War was the only game I ever played on a difficulty higher then regular... other then Civ Revolutions. -

dynamik Banned Posts: 12,312 ■■■■■■■■■□Hardest setting. I don't really have the time or patience to go through a game multiple times (unless it's one of a few that has high replayability), and I want the full challenge. It's really frustrating for me when they make you unlock the hardest difficulty by going through it on a lower setting first.

undomiel Member Posts: 2,818I always start out with the hardest setting as I generally don't replay a game. Which is why it is sometimes rather irritating that you have to play through a game to unlock the hardest difficulty. I generally don't get to try it out then. So pretty much what dynamik said. Plus easy and normal settings are usually really boring too.Jumping on the IT blogging band wagon -- http://www.jefferyland.com/

Mishra Member Posts: 2,468 ■■■■□□□□□□I want to play on hard settings because of the same reason. I will play through easy (supreme commander) then not want to play it again.
But when I put it on hard it takes so long for me to figure how to beat it that it eventually gets throw aside for another game. It's a tough world out there! -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminI usually start om medium to get the first feel of the game. After I know it well, it's unfair for me to play most FPS games on anything but the hardest level. The exception is the nightmare level in Doom ][. That was just ridiculous!

Ricka182 Member Posts: 3,359I'll usually start out with normal or medium, whatever is default. If I find the game too easy, I'll move up. Like in Guitar Hero, I started on Easy, and now do Medium. I still can't get my fingers moving fast enough to complete all the songs. I tried a few on hard and expert, and it's ridiculous. My friend beat the series on Expert, and when he plays I split time watching the game, and also his fingers move like crazy on the guitar controller......i remain, he who remains to be....

I think Guitar Hero is the exception here. I hate getting my butt kicked by my cousins who are under 10. -

whichever suits my needs. I like to find the happy medium of challenge and fun. HOWEVER, if its like halo or guitar hero, I try to beat it at the highest level the fastest before my friends so I can brag
needless to say, I really can only brag on halo
Im pretty good at guitar hero, but my friend gets better the more he drinks he kicks my butt in expert!**** ARE FOR CHUMPS! Don't be a chump! Validate your material with certguard.com search engine

Mishra Member Posts: 2,468 ■■■■□□□□□□Okay so I was able to buy Crysis and COD4 off of a kid on craigslist for 40 dollars total. Like I have said, I won't spend 40-50 dollars on a game usually.
I started off playing Crysis on hard. It was pretty easy so I switched to the Delta mode (hardest) and beat the game yesterday. I was pretty disappointed thats all Crysis could offer in terms of difficulty.
So I did the same for COD4, I kicked that off on hard but not veteran (hardest). I'm already dying and having trouble with it. Even though you can take a lot of bullets before dying, this game seems like it is just tough in general. It takes quick reflexes and great vision to be able to master some of the things you need to do. People compare Crysis and COD4 but I found Crysis to be more of a patience game, the more you apply the easier everything is, and COD4 to be a high packed action game. So it is tough to compare. -
