Linux Virtualization

Hi everyone,
I managed to get a hold of an IBM 1U server with about 4GB of RAM, so I've decided to set myself up with a Linux virtual server. I use VMWare Workstation on my Windows PC, but I'd like to get some experience playing with some Linux-based open source virtual software.
I'm planning on setting the server up with OpenSUSE running two virtual machines, one running OpenSUSE and functioning as a mail server, and another running Fedora running vsftpd. I was hoping someone could recommend some open source virtual software and mail server software.
Thanks in advance!
