Hi All,
I have a contract that is about to end soon and I am not quite sure what to do. I am not sure if I should conduct my own search for another job/contract, or let my recruiter do it for me.
I figure if I am out of work long enough, I'd have to file for unemployment, which means they would be losing some money, so I figure it would be in their best interest to find me another contract.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I have never done temp/contract work before, so I am little anxious and uncertain. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Start looking for a job yourself while the contracting agency should be looking also.Dustin Leefers -

Does keeping your employment situation exclusively in the hands of someone else sound like a good idea?
The recruiter is trying to do what's in their best interest, not yours. If they have bigger fish to fry, they're not gonna make finding you a new contract a top priority.Good luck to all! -

+1. Don't let others be in charge of your fate, make your future your own! If they find you something, great, but don't bank on it. -

Ya, I guess you guys are right. I landed this job after being unemployed for 6 months, and the thought of having to start from square one quite frankly scares the living **** out of me.
With all the employment issues in this field, I wonder if it is even worth staying in it? -
Silentsoul Member Posts: 260There was a great article a few weeks ago in Network World about what to do when you lose your job. Something like 20 tips for when your laid off. I recommend checking it out on their site or find a copy of the article some where. Lots of good tips. First off don't let pride get in the way of getting un-employment, you earned the money. And don't count on someone else to get you a job, hit the bricks so to speak, the harder you look the better chance you got to find a new job.
