Virtualization and RIS

Hi Everyone,
I am beginning to study for the MCSE 70-270 (Windows XP) exam, and through both my readings of the material and the discussions on these forums, I've noticed that RIS seems pretty important in preparing for this exam.
I have access to a lab PC that is running VMWare Workstation (I'm not very familiar with all the features of VMWare just yet), and I was wondering if VMWare has the functionality that would allow me to install Windows XP via RIS through a local machine, or if I'd only be able to do that with a separate physical PC?
Thanks.
