what is the best way to send some info to other friend which is approximately 1gb in size using internet?

There's a bunch of free file hosting sites like www.rapidshare.com

You can use winrar from www.rarsoft.com create multiple files that are 100mb or whatever the file-size limit is.

You could send it directly through IM. Most can resume if a connection drops. You can set up an FTP server from your machine.
