Hi guys,
My apologies in advance as I realise this isn't directly related to IT jobs as such but more to do with the overall process of working in America and/or Canada.
I am currently living in the UK and I've always entertained the idea of working in the US or Canada for a year or two (or possibly more) and I'm starting to think about it more seriously now. Please could anyone out there who is clued up on immigration etc. advise me on how I would go about first and foremost getting over there (visa's required etc.) as well as how to make the most of it once I'm over there (job wise, socially etc.).
Obviously I'm well aware of the immigration restrictions in place in today’s age and it seems near enough impossible to get over there but I just wondered whether there was anyone out there with some real world experience of the aforementioned situation that could give me a bit of helpful advice.
Many thanks

GT-Rob Member Posts: 1,090From the people I have talked to, Canada is much easier to immigrate to (especially quebec for some reason). Canada is also much easier to get a passport (just have to live here for 3 years).
I am sure there are others on here who have been through the process though that can help you better. -

I am a canadian, and I live in the UK. I have been here for the last 7 years, and I am planning to go back pretty soon. I have found that the IT jobs in Canada, well Vancouver are much better paided. Anyways what part of Canada are you fixing to relocate to? I think a good place to start would be Alberta, I remember not too long ago they had a huge need for people because alot of the city workers have moved to the north of the province because of the jobs in the oil industry, you must have heard something on the news about it. Check out the website below......And for all of you Brits that read this, please save me a job!!!!!

billybob01 Member Posts: 504I am in the UK and still waiting for my interview after 4 years waiting, due to the idiots at the British Consulate who are 4 years behind schedule. I have gone for permanant residency to Canada, and this is why it`s taking a long time. But i have had an email to say that my application has finally being processed.
