Can someone steer me right MCSA ?

docspawndocspawn Member Posts: 97 ■■□□□□□□□□
I have passed the 70-270,290 and mighty 291, now i'd like to get at least the MCSA
finished with the hope to 'maybe' go on to MCSE. Like most people my 'study' time
is becoming less and so dont want to waste time doing anything that may/may not
be required.
I had planned to start the 70-293 (finished the 291 May 0icon_cool.gif but looking at the M.S. link it
seems though the 293 doesnt give me the MCSA but would count towards the MCSE2003.
Is this correct ?

Should i therefore choose an elective to complete first, one that may infact count
towards the MSCE and gain the MCSA !

Thanks very much to anyone takes time to reply

I'd just go on to 293 if I were you, but yes, it won't make you an MCSA. You can tack on Security+, Exchange, etc. after that if you're in a hurry to get the MCSA title. 293 really builds on 291, so it's advantageous to take them close together if you're planning on taking it.

My A+ and Network + counted toward my MCSA.

Security+ is the only one that counts towards both. You can either use the A+/Network+ or A+/Server+ combinations for the MCSA as well.

You could take the 70-620 Vista exam, it counts towards both. Something like 70-284 Exchange would probably be more beneficial right now in the job/skills market.

What exam does the A+/Network+ certification cancel out for MCSA?

Also, if I get MCSA certified, that means 3 more exams to be MCSE correct?

    The elective.

Three or four. Some of the electives for the MCSA do not count for the MCSE (such as the A+/Network+ combo), so you would have to do another elective in addition to 293, 294, and a design exam (297 or 29icon_cool.gif.
