Need help with a specific motherboard
system specs as follows:
Hp a1600n
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0 GHZ
Motherboard: A8M2N-LA-NodusM3-GL8E
AM2
Memory: 3GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM
Monitor: 19" CRT
GFX Card: 9800 GT
PSU:700W
Sound Card: Intergrated
ISP: FIOS
Keyboard: USB
Mouse: MX510
running windows XP SP3
I'm looking to upgrade my processor. My question is what are my choices for upgrading it? What's my limit? How much would it run me approximately?
Someone please provide me some information on this subject?

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminYou need to check the support page for the mobo for the list processors supported by the latest release of the mobo's firmware.

astorrs Member Posts: 3,139 ■■■■■■□□□□That's why I posted the previous link, here's a quote (read the whole thread as there are other important considerations):So, officially, HP tells maximum supported processor is AMD 5400+. However some guy testifies using a 6400+ (which is 125W, by the way) on this same motherboard. Apparently it works fine, except the BIOS marks the processor as "unknown".
Thus, if an AMD 6400+ works with it, I see no reason for a 6000+ not to. Nonetheless, you may have to flash your BIOS to the latest version. -
deadpool287 Member Posts: 113Thank you for your help. I made a post on the AMD forums and a user actually contacted HP and found out the information I needed.
If anyone else is looking for this information it's here in this post on the forums
