Career direction

Hey guys, just found this forum, and it's awesome!! I am about 2 weeks away from taking both A+ exams, and I have a question for you guys.

I want to start a career in network/information security. I am curious what route I should take after A+. Net+ is obviously the next step, but after that I'm not sure, should I go Sec+ or into Microsoft certs.

I am looking forward to your posts, thanks again, and good luck everyone!

Ian

Sec+ sounds fun to study, but if you're looking for a job, I have never seen it as a requirement on a job posting. I have, however, seen A+, Net+, CCNA, and MCSE everywhere.

Are you interested in admin or router/switch work?

You probably won't know until you are done w/ Net+.
I'm going the MCSE route personally.

I'm going MCSA/MCSE and in the mix of that i'll pick up CCNA. Get the certs that get you a job then have work pay for the rest.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

That is a great idea about having work pay for the rest. I was also thinking along the same lines with the CCNA and then the MS certs.

Thanks again, you have been most helpful...
