Folder View set for each subdirectory

How do you set a folder view (specific columns in List view mode) so that that view is then passed to each subdirectory below it without having to do it manually for each ?
I'm not new to Vista but I still cannot figure out how to do this.
Any help much appreciated.

Otherwise, right-click on a folder and choose properties > customize (tab) and select a template. You can then apply that to that folder and subfolders. -

It's true... you know every link in the world.
I guess I am tryng to pass downward a custom view of Name, length, size and date modified to all subfolders for a music directory. I don't want albums and all that stuff. Just the fields above. With 95/98 and I think 2k, this used to be a simple task. Set your view up, click the recurse and off it went.Kam. -

I think that's the closest you're going to get. Once you customize a template, you can apply it to that folder and subfolders. I guess the only limitation you have is the number of built in templates they have. It looks like they're listed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Folder Types, but it's really convoluted, and I can't tell how to create new types just by glancing at it.
