Problem with transfer between host and guest

Hello guys, yet another problem.
We are having an issue with running an installation package from the host installing to the virtual machine. The problem also exists when attempting to transfer a file between the two. The error message that is logged into the event log is a denial of service attack has been detected from the vm's ip address and connection has been blocked. The research I have done so far points to the fact that the vm is putting too much information on the stack at once, due to the shared interface. Microsoft has a registry entry that is supposed to disable this detection. I have added the dword value listed here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898468. (the host is running 64 bit os) The problem still exists. I have not been able to reboot the server (will be able to later today) but it doesn't seem that I should have to reboot for that to take effect. Has anyone else had this problem?
thanks again everyone!
John

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminIf this fix doesn't work then I'd assume the "attack" is being detected by a program, such as Windows Firewall or Windows Defender, and not the server OS itself. Try disabling any A/V and HIDS programs running in the guest OS. And do you have the latest VMWare Tools installed in the guest OS?
