Advertising the loopback in OSPF

Is it considered best practice to advertise your loopback interface that is being used as the RID? I noticed Bryant does this in his video series and I'm wondering why.

OSPF RID doesn't need reachability so you don't need to advertise it. Is Bryant using the loopback to simulate a network

He may be advertising the loopback as well so you can get to the router if there is redundant links and a circuit goes down

Yes, this very well may be the reason. I was just wondering if there was a design principle attesting to it.
