Restore Problem XP to Vista

I restored my XP documents and settings folder from my old XP laptop "to their original location" on my new Vista Laptop. What do I do now, I can't access anything.

I backed the files up first on the old xp laptop, restored them tothe Vista laptop, and then checked, restore to their original location. The error message I am getting is, access denied, do not have permissions, etc. etc.

Can someone help me sort this out, where do I move the XP files sitting on the Vista laptop now, and how do I access them. Thanks

Well, those things are stored in completely different locations in XP and Vista. What software are you using to do this?

Just create a new folder on your desktop or something and restore everything there. You may have to take ownership of everything and change the permissions as well. You can choose to have ownership and permissions propagated to child items; you don't need to do that manually for every item.
