ding ding ding ding ding - we have a winner!
I was driving home from a weekend trip to York this weekend (4 hour drive home) and decided to stop for a little break tonight and have a bite to eat / rest from driving etc
After I had some food I thought I would have a go in the arcade and started the Deal or No Deal slot machine. I put £3 in and got onto the Deal or No Deal board where I was offered £22.50.....I took the deal
There were a few other vegas style slot machines with the cartoon like reels which I didn't notice was £1 per play until I put the first £1 in.
Anyway as I was "up" £20 from playing deal or no deal I thought I'd continue playing for a few £££ more. I spun the reels on my 4th play and it seemed to enter some type of secret game for 3 kings coming in on the winline on reels 1, 3 and 5 (i have no idea what happened lol)....the next thing I know I had 5 different values £10, £20, £50, £100 & £150, they all disappeared and then £150 came back up.....I had no idea what was going on but it turned out I had won £150, which followed with another £11......Had to pinch myself as I had £161 in the bank.
As soon as my plays ran out I collected the £161 in POUND COINS, shoveled them into my pockets and ran back out to the car to get on my way! Need to exchange them for notes tomorrow at the bank hehe
I know this is nothing to do with IT but I just thought I'd share my good fortune with you guys
I'm planning on buying a new mountain bike anyway and looking around at the moment, so I'm putting the money towards that....now my budget is £650 as opposed to £500 - happy days!
Anyone else ever had a big win on a slot machine or a casino? (i know this is not a big win really compared to casinos etc, but it is in my world!)
Cheers
Malc

I don't gamble myself or play texas, blackjack or anything like that as I'm too scared that I'd get hooked!
Some of my friends play online texas and claim some days they're "up" 500 on the "beginner" tables etc.....Don't really buy it myself, it's never that easy to make that kinda money!
........Plus I've seen that film "21" ha ha -
Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModMy parents used to live in an area with a lot of casinos, and I've had similar experiences. I went to have dinner at one, (since they're really cheap,) and I spent $2 on nickel-slots, ending up with over $250 in my pocket after I hit a nice little jackpot.
Gambling a little bit with a fixed amount of money can be fun. As long as you don't get addicted or spend money set aside for things like food or school, it can be a nice little distraction.

Don't worry, it pisses me off too! I teased him about being a gambler, since he played online for free for a long time..then he went and won some big bucks, and I was like ..lol...
It's all good. That's £150 more than you had before!!
I can see it now..the Techexams yearly trip to vegas. -

It was luck....not beginners luck as I've probably lost more than £150 in my life in slots with the odd £ here and there in the pub!
Have you resorted to the bus out of spite since your parking ticket? -

I'm sure you're right..as horribly depressing as it is to admit. Maybe it should be more like, the Techexams yearly trip to NASA or something a little more geeky. Vegas might be too cool. -

Edit: I just remembered, it was my older brother who won it and my mum made him give it to me because I was upset I'd lost....My whole life has been a lie!!!!!!We responded to the Year 2000 issue with "Y2K" solutions...isn't this the kind of thinking that got us into trouble in the first place? -

I deposited 50 bucks and I'm up to 63 after 100 games. BTW it doesn't sound too impressive because I play at the way lowest stakes... If I played at any reasonable stake table it would be more like deposited 50 and have 100. So even though it is only 13 bucks, that is a lot of wins VS losses. -

At pokerstars I smoked a dude for 250K in play money. He had Kings full of Aces. I had the other two Aces.
