winnt.exe vs winnt32.exe
I am currently studying to become A+ certified using the "Comptia A+ complete study guide" from Sybex.
I have a question I am hoping to get some clarification on.. In the Sybex book, in the review questions at the end of chapter 5 on the of questions is,
"The program that performs an upgrade from Windows 9x to Windows 2000 is ?"
A. INSTALL.BAT
B. SETUP.EXE
C. WINNT.EXE
D. WINNT32.EXE
I chose D as the answer "WINNT32.EXE", however the book states the answer is C "WINNT.EXE"
From my understanding, WINNT.EXE is not an upgrade program. Am I not understanding this correctly or is this a mistake in the book.
Thanks

"Grammar and spelling aren't everything, but this is a forum, not a chat room. You have plenty of time to spell out the word "you", and look just a little bit smarter." by Phaideaux
***I'll add you can Capitalize the word 'I' to show a little respect for yourself too.
'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird? -
Plantwiz Mod Posts: 5,057 ModWas the chapter you reviewed dealing with DOS or Windows?
Have you check the Sybex errata for reported errors?
Both could be correct but it depends on where you are attempting to run the upgrade from...Dos or Windows.Plantwiz

agntsmith Member Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□Ok, after more research i believe I have an understanding of the differences between winnt, and winnt32.
winnt.exe can be used for upgrading a 16bit OS.
winnt32.exe can be used for upgrading a 32bit OS.
I was under the impression windows 95/98 were 32 bit operating systems. However after more research I have learned they are both "hybrid" 16/32 bit systems. Because they are 16bit based, winnt.exe can be used to upgrade .
I feel I have more of an understanding of this, however it is still a confusing issue. If anyone else has anything to add, or wishes to disagree or correct me if I am wrong any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance..
