DDR2 Ram not working at 1066 Mhz
Bought following parts:
MB: Asus P5Q-EM
RAM: KHX8500D2K2/4G
Description: 4GB 1066MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 (5-5-5-15) DIMM (Kit of 2)
Detailed Specifications: Standard 256M X 64 Non-ECC 1066MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMM (SDRAM-DDR2, 2.2V, CL5, Gold)
http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX8500D2K2_4G.pdf
Qualified Vendor List for this motherboard lists other memories at 1066Mhz so I hope there will be no issues.
I understand that natively this ram works at 800Mhz and 1066Mhz have to be enabled through timing/frequency altering.
Since I have no O.C. experience - I would like someone to guide me through this.
I looked in asus support forum and under this model there are other complaints about this issue and no solutions mentioned.
Please, help me understand what is exact settings that I need to set.
Also in BIOS there is no option for DDR2-1066 (closest is DDR2-1002 and then DDR2-1111)

A lot of memory modules and BIOS use something called SPD. It'll basically allow the BIOS to automatically detect the correct timings and speed of your memory modules. I often turn this off on my systems so I can overclock my memory or set my memory manually so I know for sure what my memory is operating at. Especially since I've seen plenty of cases where SPD's set the memory under specs.
Go into your BIOS and you should see some place to change the DRAM frequency. As long as your mobo and your memory support 1066, you should be able to manually change the frequency to 1066. Somewhere in that menu you should also see the options where you can change your timings.“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.” - Harry F. Banks
