insurance question

in Off-Topic
I will call the company, but just wanted to ask here so I'm not ripped off by insurance company.
I have a car that only has "theft and fire" insurance, but a friend who has insurance will take it to another city (he has auto insurance). Could the insrurance company or authorties take issue with this. I know laws are different everywere, but just wanted double check

call your agent...coverage varies by policy, so your agent (or someone else at the insurance company who is reviewing your policy) is really the only person who'd be able to answer this question.Currently Studying For: Nothing (cert-wise, anyway)

In my area (NY), cars are insured, not drivers. Therefore, an insurance card that shows owner's and car's info, covers the car and NOT the owner. The only exception I know of is rental cars: I can take my insurance card that would also cover a rental vehicle. It's also different for dealers: they use general business liability insurance that covers cars.
