Passed 70-293

I passed 70-293, with a 972, yesterday with 30 minutes to spare. Out of the exams I have taken, this one was one of the tougher exams.

I studied exclusively for 3 weeks before taking the test, but also had a few years experience working as the security specialist at a large bank, worked with IPsec, certificates, GPO, MBSA, all the MS goodies.

Debating whether to take the 70-294 at the end of the week or not. Only 2 exams shy of my MCSE.

Nice work! That's an impressive score. I plan to take mine on Thursday, but I'd be happy with a 701! =)

Wow, that is the highest score on that I have seen in a long time.

    What's your background?

I have been a Network/Server administrator for about 8 years now. I run everything under the sun at my current position. This includes everything from network design, configuration, installation, budgeting to running fiber, splicing, terminating.

What helped me most on this exam, is working at a financial institution for a couple of years. My main job was to increase security and server hardening. I developed most of the GPOs and became intimate with Microsoft's Baseline Security documentation. The bank was a real hard-on for security seeing how a year before I got there, their online banking system was hacked, and bad stuff followed.

Things I used to prepare for the test:

Daily Work - Lead Administrator over communications (server and network) (Utilities)
MSPress - I read it cause I had it, but would not recommend
VMware Test Lab - I have a VMware test lab that I simulated everything I could think of. Lots of CA.
    Sybex - Better than MSPress

After taking the past five tests, I think MS should put more time into the questions. On most cases you can eliminate 50% to 75% of the choices just using common sense (IT sense). I have been log over due to take the exams for my MCSE, I have put it off for far to many years. I only found this site halfway through my journey.

Thanks for all the kind words.
