windows updates

I was wondering if anyone knows when a PC is installing windows updates and it says not to power off the machine. Does anyone know what would happen if the power did go out, say there was a power outage or something?!?

The same thing if you did it while installing software. Maybe nothing, maybe corruption, etc.
    Good luck to all!

I had to create a new user profile for one of my users and restore all her files and settings a few weeks ago. Her's was completely corrupted. She asked what might have caused it. I said it could have been something goofy with an update, or maybe things weren't shut down properly, etc. She's like, "Oh yea, it told me not to shut it down, but I was in a hurry and had to go." Great.

I wanted to respond, "Good thing you took off and didn't wait a couple of minutes. You only had your laptop inaccessible the entire night and wasted both of our mornings!" icon_lol.gif

One time I powered my machine off in the middle of updates, and my computer turned me into a newt!

    I got better...
    Good luck to all!
