Core 2 Quad vs i7

My is looking for a desktop and saw the i7. I'm looking for a new set of workstation for work and thinking Core 2 Quad.

Which will you pick? Anyone have any input about the Intel Core i7?

    I think it depends what you're going to use it for and budget range.

    My two year old E6700 is just fine for my needs but I'm just using it for gaming, running simulators, and maybe a VM. Just needs a new graphic card though...
