HI guys i have xpsp2 I turned on today and no icons on desktop i could not access something i tried access task manager it gives me access deny its stand alone pc not part of domain how can i fix this problem its probably virus i need access hard disk to copy important folders before i format it any advice plz

Ultimate Boot CD has bootable AV scanners and bootable linux distros that should allow you to be able to copy stuff off.

have you tried booting in safe mode & running anti-malware/virus programs? Can you boot into safe mode?

is there a way to run explorer.exe i m not able to do from task manager maybe then i can access my drivers

You can try [Windows Key] + E

Also, you can boot off the CD and go into the recovery console and use robocopy or xcopy (can't remember which one, or if both, are available here) and copy what you need to another drive.
