BIOS freeze
hey all i have a Compaq Presario 723RS lappy with a pheonix BIOS but sometimes it freezes during what i assume is POST. it gives no beeps and the sys speaker works. i was wondering how i can fix this and if i can flash the BIOS with anything other than the one HP offers on their site?

well it turns on shows the Compaq logo with a littlewhite rectangle in the upper right hand corner. as to frequency about once every three boots. i thought it had something to do with hibernation but even on a proper shut down it does it.K-Meleon 1.5.1

Did this just start recently? If so, did you change any hardware, such as the CPU or memory?
If it just started out of the blue, you probably have some hardware failing. You might want to load up the Ultimate Boot CD and run some diagnostics, such as Memtest86+

You need to use the BIOS that was designed for your board. Compaq/HP should have a download page for it.
